The Cast of Characters
The Teacher will enter the name or names of the students playing each of the roles. Below you will find a list which outlines the positions each of the characters will take on the questions the Convention will address.

In brief, people holding Belief 1 argue that it should be easy for the South to get back in to the Union and that pardons should be easy to secure. Belief 2 says that it should be tough on the South to return to the union and to secure pardons. Belief 3 calls for substantial rights for freed blacks. Belief 4 wants few rights for blacks. Belief 5 wants Congress to control Reconstruction. Belief 6 wants the President to control Reconstruction. Belief 7 Reconstruction should be organized and implemented on a national level. Belief 8 wants the separate states to run Reconstruction.
