The State election in Arkansas
resulted in the adoption of a Free State Constitution, and the election of Judge Murphy as
Governor, with the rest of the Free State ticket, by an almost unanimous vote. The number
of votes registered was about fifteen thousand, and the number polled about ten thousand.
Eleven counties gave more votes than the whole number required by the President's
proclamation to restore Arkansas in the Union. |
